I love the fall. To me there is something so special about the change of the seasons. Our mornings are cooler, in the 50s, although the days still warm up to the 80s and 90s. The leaves are just starting to change color and I've heard the geese flying south a few times already. Fall is also the end of baseball season and we are very hopeful that our Texas Rangers will play in the World Series this year. It's also the start of football season for TCU and of course the Dallas Cowboys as well as my nephews games. Fall is the begining of hunting season. I didn't go out this year but I enjoy working with my  dog and hearing about my friends trips out.

Fall is also when the weather becomes more bearable for painting out. I love to paint the colors of fall, the foliage  and of course the pumpkins. I 've bought several for my porch in different shapes and colors. So if I have the time I'll have to paint some of them. Of course with work, sculpture, and everything else time is something I don't have a lot of.

Another thing I like about fall is Halloween. A number of the houses on my street put up orange lights and have pumpkins or other decorations on their lawns or porches. I enjoy the lights as our days grow shorter and shorter.

  1. I love Fall too! I think it's my favorite season. Doug, I had the wonderful surprise of seeing your sculptures in person at InSight Gallery last weekend. I was so impressed! Congratulations on that success, it must feel wonderful. I really enjoyed looking at so many of their sculptures and told myself that some day... I'll get back to sculpture. Not today though! :D Anyway, congrats Doug.

  2. Thank you very much Camille. I was down at the Insight too, dropping off a bison sculpture for their Christmas show. I always love going there to see the art and that weekend was amazing with the demonstrations by Scott Christianson and Quang Ho. I felt like I was attending two great classes, for free! And then they even provided lunch for everyone. It was a great weekend. When I got home I had an email from them saying that I had sold two sculptures. that made it an even better weekend!

  3. I've always preferred the Spring and Summer but after reading your post, I think I need to go out and enjoy this Autumn season. There's a lot of beautiful colors out now...and I love your Autumn Harvest! Beautifully painted!!

  4. I love the spring as well. I think after the heat of summer the fall is so refreshing in the same way that after a cold, bleak winter the spring can be so refreshing. But here in Texas, most of the time, our winters are milder than our summers so I guess I'm more ready for the change of season in the fall.

  5. I like the way the light hits your large pumpkin. Very nice! And I LOVE how you have decorated your porch ..... so very festive! And the huge spider is great on his web!

Autumn is my favorite season. Although, the others are great, too (with the exception of last summer!). There is something about the earth cooling down and days becoming shorter. Just the feel of it is so welcome!
