This is a painting of one of my favorite kachinas, an Ogre Woman. I bought her in Albuquerque. (She is a fairly old one.) I chose to paint her at an angle as she hangs on the wall.

the doll is a little scary, but the painting is great! I thought to myself at first glance, wow, he sews too?!! Nice work!
ReplyDeleteHaha , I DON'T sew. Actually kachinas are carved from the root of a cottonwood tree. This one has string hair and feathers sticking out of the ears.
ReplyDeleteI love this one Doug. Your palette is wonderfully subdued, a beautiful shadow, alot of mystery portrayed.
